GTS Alive Group is preparing a major innovation in digital identity, access, and attendance management. As the first LEGIC partner to prepare NFC functionality for iOS directly in its own application, GTS Alive Group is taking another important step toward a faster, more secure, and more reliable user experience for digital ID holders.
The new NFC functionality in the Alive App will allow users to access buildings, classrooms, campuses, and other secured areas with the same simplicity and reliability they are used to from physical access cards. With a simple tap, users will be able to verify their identity quickly and securely through their mobile device.
This development represents a significant improvement compared to Bluetooth-based access technology, which can be less precise in certain real-life situations — especially when several cardholders are standing close to each other in a queue. NFC provides a more accurate, intentional, and seamless interaction, making it highly suitable for everyday access and attendance scenarios.
The solution is being developed hand in hand with Etugate, GTS Alive Group’s daughter company and long-term partner in the education and institutional access ecosystem. Together, the companies are preparing to roll out the system to more than 100 institutions, with pilot universities expected to follow soon.
Apple’s decision to open NFC functionality on iOS creates new opportunities for secure digital identity services. For GTS Alive Group, this marks an important moment in the evolution of the Alive App and its role as a trusted digital ID platform for students, institutions, and partners.
“This is a key milestone for the future of digital ID, access, and attendance. NFC enables us to offer users an experience that is secure, fast, and finally comparable to the physical cards they already know — while bringing the convenience of mobile-first identity,” said Tomas Bohm, Head of Product and Development at GTS Alive Group.
